GCP – AI capabilities and controls to power up your workday with Chrome Enterprise
Tired of endless tabs, repetitive tasks and constantly trying to find that document you were in just a few days ago? Everyone can relate to these common workplace frustrations. But good news – Chrome Enterprise’s AI-powered shortcuts will help users streamline their workflows and give IT teams the controls they need.
Chrome Enterprise’s vision for AI is about more than just convenience – it’s about fundamentally improving how we work on the web. By harnessing the power of safe and ethical AI, Chrome aims to create a more intuitive, efficient, and personalized browsing experience that empowers businesses to achieve their goals faster and easier. As the most trusted enterprise browser, we’ll continue to introduce policies, protections and reporting on AI and ML capabilities so IT and security teams can keep their corporate data safe while bringing the latest innovations to their end users.
AI already powers some of our users’ favorite features, like Google’s Safe Browsing and Live Captions. Today, Chrome announced new AI feature updates coming to Chrome. Let’s take a look at how business users can make the most of these new capabilities and how IT teams can manage how they’re used in their organization:
Instantly search what you see with Google Lens.
Google Lens just got an awesome new update! With the upcoming Chrome rollout (M127), it’ll now be easier than ever to select, search and ask follow-up questions about anything in the browser, all from your current tab. By selecting the Google Lens shortcut in the address and clicking or dragging anywhere in the browser, users can search elements in an image or video. Users can also ask follow-up questions to dive deeper into a topic or refine their search depending on what they’re looking for.
For example, let’s say you’re planning an upcoming kick off event. While on Google Meet, you see an upcoming industry conference on a slide someone is presenting. You can drag your cursor over the photo of the flyer and see that it’s an upcoming AI conference in San Diego. Then, you can ask follow up questions like “When will the conference be held this year?”
Chat quicker with Gemini.
Another feature we released earlier this year allows users to directly access the Gemini web app using Chrome’s site shortcut. Simply type “@gemini” into the omnibox and enter a prompt.
Now that you know when the AI conference is, you decide to plan your annual kickoff event for customers and internal teams to coincide with the conference, but you could use some support on where to start. Simply type “ @gemini | Help me plan an event” and get a curated to-do list from Gemini.
Rediscover your web history.
In a few weeks Chrome History with generative AI will be able to help users find web pages they’ve previously visited, using their own words – even if they don’t remember all the details. No more digging through endless links – just fast, easy access to the sites you need.
For instance, while planning your event, you were looking at potential locations, but you can’t remember the specific venue name. You can type something along the lines of “venue in the hills” and Chrome will surface pages from your history that could be a match.
Easily compare across tabs.
Navigating multiple tabs to compare products and services can be time-consuming and inefficient. To streamline this process, we’re introducing Tab Compare in the coming weeks, an AI-powered feature that generates a contextual overview of information across multiple tabs in a single view. Enterprise users can make informed purchasing decisions quickly and efficiently, ultimately optimizing their procurement workflows.
Now that you’ve selected your venue and Gemini helped you with your to-do list, it’s time to shop! Using Tab Compare, you can easily look at various options for a speaker for your MC and determine what is the most cost effective.
Write confidently.
Our business users can now get assistance with writing tasks on the web using Help me write. It leverages generative AI to provide suggestions for various types of text content like emails, blogs, social media posts and more. It can quickly generate drafts, suggest better phasing or framing and can help users express their thoughts more confidently.
The big day is almost here and it’s time to send out official invites for the event! Using Help me write, you can generate an initial draft for your invites. By entering key information like the event date, time and location, you can use the suggested content to jumpstart your writing.
AI controls and governance.
While we’re extremely excited about these features and their potential to transform enterprise productivity, we understand that the rise of AI is creating new challenges for IT administrators and security professionals. It’s critical that these teams have the ability to control its usage and safeguard corporate data, every step of the way.
We’re excited to announce that later this year, we’ll be launching a central AI cloud policy and more controls that make it even simpler for admins to manage GenAI features, collectively. Not using Chrome Enterprise Core yet? Your business can sign up here at no additional cost.
If you prefer to manage these capabilities at the feature level, Chrome Enterprise brings controls to administrators so they can customize AI settings, determine which AI-powered features are available to specific users or groups, and ensure that AI usage aligns with company policies and security standards. This granular level of control empowers organizations to embrace AI’s benefits while mitigating potential risks.
Chrome Enterprise Premium customers can also block specific activities on unsanctioned GenAI tools using our URL filtering capabilities, which you can learn more about on our blog.
As AI technology continues to evolve, watch out for even more innovative features to come. And rest assured that when you use Chrome within your organization, you’ll be getting the best of Google AI in addition to the safeguards your organization needs.
