GCP – A developer’s take: Get the most out of Cloud AI Week at Next On Air
Welcome to week 8 of Google Cloud Next ‘20: OnAir, where the focus is Cloud AI! This week our goal is to show you how to generate value with AI on our AI Platform. We’ve got a lineup of great content that covers everything from announcements and deep dives to customer stories and demos.
As a developer myself, I’m excited to hear about all the new alpha and beta programs to join and test out new products and APIs in my own projects. Here are some of the talks I’m excited to have on my session list:
-
Responsible AI: from Theory to Practice: “With great power comes great responsibility” is great advice that never fades. This session explains Google’s AI Principles, and how we work to make sure those principles are guiding us at every stage: from product development and user research to testing and documentation.
-
How AI Has Helped Enterprises Adapt Quickly to Moments of Change: 2020 has been a challenge for everyone, but seeing how our world has adapted and persisted is something that inspires me. That’s why I’m interested to hear more about how businesses have leveraged CloudAI to help them pivot, as well as how that might reshape our “new normal” moving forward.
-
Interpreting ML Models with Explainable AI: Want to know the magic behind your models? Explainable AI will shine a light on the features that contributed to your model’s predictions. This one is full of demos touching the AI Platform and AutoML Tables.
-
Engage and Translate: Text and Audio Chat in 100+ Languages: I am personally missing traveling to new countries right now but you can take your apps abroad by using the Translation API to transform them to almost any language! If you’re also on video chat all day now, definitely tune in to see a demo on “media translation” which let’s you translate spoken words in real time.
-
CCAI State of the Union: AI was already transforming how organizations provide great customer service, and that transformation has only accelerated in 2020. This session features real-life customer stories to highlight how Contact Center AI (CCAI) is helping to drive this transformation with technologies like Voice AI, and how you can use it in your business.
Those are just a few sessions from my own playlist, but there’s plenty more to see. All told, we have more than 30 sessions going live this week, so there’s sure to be something for everyone. Check out the session catalog for the full scoop on your favorite products, like AutoML, Dialogflow/CCAI, TensorFlow, and the rest of the family. And be sure to check in on the Partner and Solutions Keynotes for success stories and real-world applications across industries such as retail, financial services, manufacturing, gaming, and more.
At the end of the week, Karl Weinmeister is hosting a developer- and operator-focused live recap and Q&A session. This is a great chance for you to join our team for a discussion on all things AI. So tune in this Friday at 9 a.m. PDT, or join our APAC team on Friday at 11 a.m. Singapore Time (SGT)!
If you miss the conference floor, don’t worry! We’ve converted many of the planned booth activities into videos and interactive demos, so that you can see AI in action. I’m most excited to see the NASA interactive demo. I grew up in Houston, Texas so I’ve had a soft spot for everything NASA does since I was a small child. In this demo, NASA’s Frontier Development Lab partnered with Google Cloud to use AI to accelerate exoplanet research.
Finally, for everyone looking to hone their skills, we’ve got several hands-on learning opportunities in this week’s Cloud Study Jam, which offers virtual, instructor-led workshops. If you’re new to Cloud AI, check out the AI Platform overview and Qwik Start. Intermediate learners may be interested in using the What-If Tool to identify potential bias. And advanced ML developers looking to validate their expertise with Google Cloud certifications may be interested in the certification prep session.
Whether you’re a Data Scientist/Engineer, Analyst, AI Researcher, Developer, or just an enthusiast with a thirst for learning, we’re sure you’ll find something that piques your interest next week! Next OnAir is running from now until September 8. Check out the full session catalog to learn more and register at g.co/cloudnext.
