AWS – HTTP compression support now available in Amazon Elasticsearch Service

Amazon Elasticsearch Service now supports gzip compression for HTTP payloads. With HTTP compression, you can reduce the size of your documents by to up to 80%, lowering bandwidth utilization and latency, leading to improved transfer speeds.
