AWS – AWS delivers enhanced root cause insights to help explain cost anomalies
Today, AWS announces new enhanced root cause analysis capabilities for AWS Cost Anomaly Detection, empowering you to better pinpoint and remediate underlying factors driving unplanned cost increases. By creating anomaly monitors, you can analyze spend across services, member accounts, Cost Allocation Tags, and Cost Categories. Once a cost anomaly is detected, Cost Anomaly Detection now analyzes and ranks all possible combinations of services, accounts, regions, and usage types by cost impact, surfacing up to the top 10 root causes with their corresponding cost contributions.
With more information on the key drivers behind an anomaly, you can better identify the specific factors that contributed the most to a cost spike, such as which combination of linked account, region, and usage type led to increased spend in a particular service. With the top root causes ranked by their cost impact, you can more easily take fast, targeted actions to address these key issues before unplanned costs accrue further.
The enhanced root cause analysis is available in all AWS Regions, except the AWS GovCloud (US) Regions and the China Regions.
